We went to see The Last Jedi last night. I enjoyed it, though it was too long, highly episodic, poorly paced and lacked the highs of other films. I really liked how it questioned the fantasy tropes of the other Star Wars films – that bloodline isn’t necessarily all, that heroic posturing doesn’t always work, that middle aged women can right even if they are irritating, that age needn’t bring wisdom or effectiveness, that not all missions are important or successful, and that saving friends is better than killing enemies. The conflicts of Darth Petulant were well handled and the Ewok equivalents weren’t too bad. Though the nuns were a bit whatevs.

My computer still hasn’t arrived.
